Gone to the Dogs?

How many times in a day do you exclaim, “This country has gone to the dogs”? I am assuming that it must be at least once in a day when KESC decides to shut down the electricity! And then considering that the light goes out for at least 3 hours everyday, that’s 3 times in a day then! Then there is the traffic in which you are stuck, the strikes, the riot, the increase in prices, The every other day strike, etc.

But if you are like me, than that statement, while continues to linger on at the back of your head somewhere, it is no longer a serious belief with which you attach yourself. you learn to move on, and IT IS EXACTLY THIS WITH WHICH I HAVE A PROBLEM!

This is not a post about something specific! Because the number of things that are bothering me at the moment is so long that I would need to write for two months constantly just to fill in all that is bothering me at the moment.

But for sure, this country has gone to the dogs!

After the riots last week, in which MQM leader was shot in his home in the early hours, the chaos, apparently by unnamed extremists, is  enough to make even a blind man scream out, “You idiots!”.

And one accusation, whether false or not, was enough for Rehman Malik the Great to put two people on the ECL. no investigation, no fact findings by your own state machinery, just one claim by one stupid MQM representative and that’s it!

Lets vent more shall we!

PPP, have you freaking lost your mind? You could not find any other area where the terrorist are hiding except Lyari? Why are you so much against your own people and your own vote bank? And is pleasing MQM so important that you would rather lose sight of what is sane and what is not? I am not even going to say right and wrong here, because apparently in politics those words are worth little.

And what about the Supreme Court (indeed)! Hey Mr. Chief Justice, I mother didn’t make nice food yesterday, you want to take suo-moto notice on that too?

This country is becoming more and more of a joke every single day

People, I am filing a Civil Lawsuit against KESC .. who is with me?

People, I have had enough! And I say this with complete seriousness! Because this time I really have had enough!

And let me unabbreviate the word KESC for the lucky people out there in the world who have had never had to suffer the wreath of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation – the K.E.S.C!

After suffering for .. let me count.. no .. actually let me restate myself … after enjoying electricity for a mere 4 hours in 24 hours, that too in bits and pieces as KESC played games with us. The games included giving us the hope that we finally have electricity before turning it off again within half an hour – a cruel joke my friends! Continue reading

Our Biased Media

The job of the media is to REPORT things.. but like many other institution of Pakistan, the media too has to learn on how to be able to report. This is an immature institution which has to learn a lot from sensible reporting to investigative journalism. And so far – almost 10 years to be exact- the excuse of the media has been “WE ARE STILL A YOUNG INSTITUTE – GIVE US TIME”

I don’t believe or buy this excuse because when you have predecessor to guide you then this excuse simply doesn’t work.

Recently, Dunya news displayed a news item on its slide bar, that Muktaran Mai was caught stealing electricity. Now, agreed that this is a crime and that we are all responsible citizens and should condemn it. But was it right to target a women like that, who was from her tragedy done a lot for the country?

Isn’t our great ex-leader President Musharraf, who shouted from every forum, that his country is his foremost responsibility and it is that which pulled him towards the power so that he maybe our savior- isn’t he stealing electricity? A report in Express newspaper suggested otherwise.

Didn’t KESC found that within the limits of the navy residential project KARSAZ, around 70 high naval officials were found stealing electricity?

Don’t we all know it for a fact, that all major industries and high profile people of this country are inafact indulged in this crime?

Then why did the media take it upon to target a women, who at least has done something for this country? Is it because she is weak and can’t create some trouble for the media, which Musharraf and his “buddies” could have?
