Shaheed Salman Taseer!

I always hated this compulsion of ours as a nation to define anyone who might have died even in the most ridiculous of circumstances – a nazim dead, a person coming under the wheel of a bus, Target killing – as Shaheed! It was just one more label, but I guess it really comes home when a person who truly deserved this label is being banished from all directions in to an “infidel” who is simply not worth this honor. Isn’t it ironic that he was the son of a man who led the funeral of Il’m-ud-din!

Half an hour into the news being cast on the news to the weary hours of the morning when I finally turned the TV off, he had been converted from a politician of the stature of Indira Gandhi to another statistics that would be compiled at the end of the year to show the loss that we as a nation have suffered!

Every show that aired itself with Salman Taseer as the main topic whose its words wisely, every speaker on these show chose their words wisely. They all started with “Yes it has been a great loss on a humanitarian level…. but….”! Groups have been made up to honour the death of Salman Taseer, the cyber space was filled with voices from both rejoice and frustration, and among all this, was the fear that this would only act as encouragement, and from now on we need to be more careful! The new FB Censor Policy!

The latest news that is coming regarding the FB issue is that it should be either banned completely or it should be censored! So what it would basically mean that from now on the Dope heads would be able to do whatever they want without us knowing about it.. and then we wont even have to do this charade of protest…

I can understand why the elite urban class is not coming out of their homes.. First of all, this would mean a threat to anyone’s life .. I mean, of you are not protesting with them, then it automatically makes you an infidel, and then also because all of their protests were organized over FB.. so ya, I am sure that they are having a lot of problems..

Also are we the only Muslim Country who is having a problem.. or am I just not watching enough CNN nowadays.. because I have not seen any new item that would suggest that someone else is also having this much problem..

And another point and insult for the PTA.. according to them they have banned Facebook, Youtube and 150 other links (I would love to know the names of those though) due to the caricatures, but somehow I can still access porn.. Idiots!

The Eid Issue

The one thing that is great about Pakistan is the fact that there are never any surprises.. you always know what to expect.. from the political humdrum to the price hike before Ramadan.. you can always be sure what is going to be around the corner.

And therefore the issue of the moon sighting is no surprise at all. As usual the scientist said one thing, the maulvi said one and the politicians played their part to get as much air time during this conflict as they can.

The controversy started from the sighting of the moon of Ramadan which happened a day earlier in NWFP. The zonal Ruet-i-Hilal committee sat a day earlier to sight the moon of Shawal, indicating of the fact that whether Eid would be on Sunday after 29 days of observing the month of Ramazan.

The moon was sighted, as could be expected, and the province of NWFP, wuported by the Provnicial GOvernment celebrated the Eid. This has led to a row between the Head of the Ruet-i-Hilal, Mufti Munib and several figures of ANP.

It is a shame that in a time and age of Science and technology that we live in, we have issues like these. But more than that, these things have to do a lot with the political hands that are at play in this region. There is a majority that is playing in the hands of the Saudi influence and would justify anything that the Saudi’s are doing and more so, they would think that it is okay for us to follow it too. The sighting of the moon and celebrating Eid according to it is just one of those issues.

The issue of the moon sighting always seems to be an issue only for Ramazan and then for Eid, and never for any other month.. which is shocking in itself.. and a bit disturbing.. for there has hardly been any Eid where this issue hasn’t risen causing the whole nation to question that if it would ever be possible to celebrate this day together…… Well there is always next year!

Go ahead ..label me!

For most of my adult life, I have been labeled as non-religious, agnostic, in-denial, closet Muslim, atheist, and for a large part of my life I have let people believe in whatever they want to believe, because honestly speaking I have never thought of it to be my concern about how they choose to think about me. But it is hurtful when a person who does know you can be so rude and hurts you badly because of your believe, or because how people who don’t even know you perceive you, or simply because it is easy to raise fingers on others than on yourself.

So this is a sort of an attempt to clear that. Here goes nothing!

My religious believes are something that I myself have to find. As a child yes, I did believe in God, not because I chose to, but simply because I inherited it. But as I grew up, the question needed to be answered, whether I truly in my heart believed in Him. I know that most of us go on believing in whatever believes, religious or contrary, have been given to us when we still are in our mothers laps. But I believe that with age and maturity we should ask ourselves this question about why is it that we believe and in what! Otherwise our believes can never have any substantial foundations.

So do I believe in God? I don’t know. Have I seen God in the millions of faces that surround us? Maybe. Have I seen Godly acts? yes!

This is my believe. I am not sure if God exists, although I am open to the idea  that maybe on day I will find him, but so far what I have seen is Godly strength and courage among people. And that in itself needs to be appreciated.

You can find it in the face of a mother who is tired but can still find time for all the people in her life, in a parent who can learn to forgive you for everything wrong that you have done, you can find it in a friend who despite being tired and having his owns problems would listen to you and be there for you, you can find it in a stranger who offers to give his seat and stand for hour or more in a bus in a city like Karachi, in the eyes of a father who is looking at his new born, God like is when a person decided to forget the wrong of a person and learns to trust him again, its when a person knows the good and the bad about some one and still can see beyond that.

Did you break a glass? Go ahead, blame the Zionist!!

It has always been an Eastern tradition that whenever something wrong happens in your own country, without a single thought blame the West, the USA in particular and the Zionist Lobby in specific. The West has been involved in twisting around the political outcome of the East many many times. And therefore the mistrust is not without some concrete foundation.

The hand that the CIA played in sponsoring the War of Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. This included not only throwing in the money, but also weapons and training, thus making this the largest ever covert operation by the CIA. The profile of the CIA goes on to include the overthrow of many of the governments in the East, which includes Iran as well. The 1953 government of Iran when Mohammad Mosaddeq was in power, with the support for his nationalistic ideas among the people. He wanted what was the right of the Iranian people, to get the profits out of the oil reserves of Iran, which were being harassed by the UK. The events so formed that the single biggest investment of the British Government, the Anglo Iranian Oil Company was nationalized. This resulted in a huge rift between the two governments, so much so that the UK tried to get the USA on its side for a coup against the most popular government in Iran. Although President Trueman refused, but President Eisenhower was all up for the idea. And therefore in 1953, the CIA and the British SIS orchestrated a coup d’etat that toppled the democratically elected government of Mohammad Mossadegh.”

At the time, it might have felt as a victory for the West, but since then it has resulted in a mistrust, that has yet to be sub-sided. The USA also had to pay for this during the 1979 Shia Revolution in Iran, when the embassy was taken up as a hostage, and not only humiliated on the streets of Tehran but was also kept hostage for almost a year.

People from the Embassy were humiliated on the streets of Tehran and kept hostages for almost a year.

After all that has happened, it is not a very shocking revelation to say that the East can never find it easy to trust the West. This, recently in the case of Iran became very obvious when initially the Supreme Leader, Ali Khameni, made it clear that the enemy wants to make people believe that they have been fooled. It started 3 months ago. I have been hearing enemies saying repeatedly that the elections will be fraudulent. They had been preparing months in advance…….The enemies are trying through their media – which is controlled by dirty Zionists. The Zionist, American and British radio are all trying to say that there was a competition between those who support and those who didn’t support the state.”

But the danger of this trend is now that everuthing is blamed on the USA or the Zionist and the Eastern countries automatically feel free from any responsibilty on their own behalf. The Iranian Government simply blamed the “enemy” without any investigation and then sat back to relax.

The fault came forward yesterday when the Guardian Council admitted that there has been fraud in the elections, as the number of votes exceeded the population in many cities. The amount of the rigged votes is almost around 3 million but it still has to seen whether, as the powerful council’s spokesman Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei pointed out, “the amount is decisive in the election results”

Lahore and Noshera Bomb Blast – 12th June 2009

Up till now almost 7 people have been dead and around 100 injured.. the number no doubts would be rising as the day passes on.

Today was Friday- or Jumma – and muslims this day gather to be able to perform their religious ritual. The Juma prayer has a great significance in the Muslim world, and it is this freedom that we fought for 60 years ago – the freedom to perform our religious task freely.

But not only have we proved that we fail as Muslims, we even fail as Humans.. and each day passes us by we fail ourselves more and more.

I remember reading in Karen Armstrong’s book “Breaking the Curfew” that Muslims have always felt that since they had the laws of God, they didnt need to abide to any lower form of human laws, that is why you would find so little respect for traffic laws, and the kind.

I think that the world that we live in today proves her point more and more every single day. We are not humans, we can never call our selves human, and maybe now even God won’t take us. We must have lost our respect in his eyes a long time ago. We are bodies roaming this earth, with no proper word to describe our barbarity.

The scholar killed in the Lahore Blast, Professor Sarfaraz Naeemi was one of those few voices that spoke out aloud against the barbarity of Talibans and openly declared them non-Muslims and maybe this is why it was very important to have these voices be silent.

It is shame, we bring shame onto ourselves everyday.. this world is hell, and we burn in the fire of hell everyday.

Obama and the 12th Imam

Barrack Hussein Obama should be unanimously accepted as the official 12th imam that was to come upon mankind to save us from the demons of the material world. And I think that his speech in Cairo would help to affirm that claim.

Bear with me as I reveal my thesis on this topic…

In the wake of the 9\11 massacre all of us, Muslims and non-Muslims started as one after the other the towers collapsed, and we sat deciding on how to react to it.. should we rejoice on the fate of the infidels who for so long have interfered in our socio-economic decisions, have overthrown our government, has given us the gifts like the Mujaheddin ( Now with a brand new name, The Taliban) – or should we be sad about innocent lives lost on that tragic morning.

I think that it was important for us to decide – but the decision wasn’t that Grey as we made it out to be – it was simply black and white. Are you with the good guys or the bad guys?

Oh.. by good guys I in no way am referring to USA .. but simply mankind.

But this is what is really astonishing… as all of us chose are sides, and the majority being on the side of the Good guys.. We voiced our concerns and displayed our newly selected side everywhere – from media to blogs, from drawing room chats to rallies.. Lots of Muslim religious Leaders also blabbed about how this doesn’t represent Islam and these people are not Muslims.. But here is the twist..

When Allama Iqbal wrote Shikwa an epic poem in which he complained to God about the affairs of the world, our same religious leaders in that time, hired a chartered plane.. went all the way to Kab’ah and got a Fatwa against him..

But no one has since the 9\11 bothered to do the same for these terrorist who claims lives every single day. If we have made up our choice that they are the “BAD GUYS” then why not get it done with and officially declare them the “BAD GUY” ..

So what link does that has to Obama being the Imam… See he is the one person who has finally voiced it that this religious war can only be won by taking religion as an arm against these terrorist. And as he is the only one to follow on the epiphany we should all hail before him..

For such a long time, these Taliban’s have taken shelter under religious quotes and justifications to make their acts “OKAY” and none of our God-fearing religious leaders have had the guts to say that they are wrong.

But here rises a leader from the west.. hailing from the land of Islam itself.. who is the son of a common man .. and he voices what is necessary and he defeats the evil with he word of GOD himself and using no other rational, than the arms that the enemy has used for so long.

We in the Muslim world had the opportunity to do that, yet we once more were kicked by “THE OLD WHITE LORD”.. or the “BLACK LORD” now actually…

So then why not accept this son of Hussein as to be our savior and to protect us from the enemy of Islam ( I am sure that the the majority of us have accepted that we are on the side of the Good Guys . It is he who has taken upon himself to solve our issues of Palestine and Israel and Iran… SO lets all hail the son of Hussein!
